Nick and I on Chewang beach, which is beautiful at sunset. The town, however is a total tourist magnet complete with scammers. I think we were approached by 10 different people trying to bait us into time shares. "Do you speak English? Where are you from?" One duo of Australian salesmen really had their act down, complete with feigned surprise at Nick scratching three stars in a row on his scratch card, entitling him to a free gift. Hmmm....I think I'll keep my 90 minutes, thank you.
Also in this photo you'll notice my stylish styrofoam and flower necklace. How, you're wondering, did I come to own such a treasure? Just about the cutest little girl ever approached me on the beach and began hugging my waist after I declined purchasing the necklace. After a minute or so of hearing no, she abandoned me for Nick and repeated the scenario. His "no" was met with little fists to the belly until she bullied him into purchasing three for 150 Baht ($4.50), one for me and each of the two girls we were walking with. She new what she was doing...
This photo was taken on Lamai beach, a town more our speed; cleaner, less toured, and fewer salespeople, big and small.
